Bible Study // Day 10

Bible StudyJasmine LopezComment

It's our last day for our study and I'm so grateful for everyone that followed along! As we approach a new year lets challenge ourselves to find out how we can live our lives full of purpose. For some of us our stories and what we've experienced will connect us to our purposes. We all long to do what we were created for. We can only do what God has uniquely created us to do. What if we made 2016 our year to live purposely and to invite God to help show us what we were created for...whether it be just for this season or your life calling? Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." But do you know what it says after that? It's says in 12-13: "Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." If you are feeling at a loss with your purpose make this year the year where you call, seek and call on God. And you will find him!!! Happy New Year's my friends!!! #Clickforhope #purpose #sharestory

Did you know that the Bible talks about light over 200 times? Did you also know that photography means "written light"? When I learned this a few years ago I immediately had a sense of responsibility to use my talent for something greater. I was using light to write stories but yet I knew nothing about my clients and their actual stories. I left my sessions feeling empty and knew I needed it to change....#Clickforhope was officially created in 2012 although I had already been giving back sessions. My first give back was actually with a lady who's name was Sally. It was the first time I knew someone battling cancer. I felt compelled to photograph her and with her permission she came to my studio for a session. My friend did her makeup and we embarked on a photo shoot that would forever change my life. She spoke so well and shared her story so beautifully. She shared where she failed as a person and she knew this was her second chance to make things right. She smiled as she spoke and the more and more we spoke, a new found confidence exuded her...this light radiated from her. As we were finishing her session I mustered up the courage to ask if she'd be willing to take off her scarf. You see in the midst of her battle she had never done that, at least not in public. She took a deep breath, and looked at me with such love and softly nodded her head as she took it off. As she did, I knew I had one chance to get it right and maybe I didn't get it perfect, but what I saw in the photo was a new found freedom in her story. She used her light to expose the ugly parts, the parts that she was ashamed of, the parts she had no control over and the parts she had to surrender but knew that in sharing them she would be free. Matthew 5:14 says you are the light of the world--like a city on a hilltop that can not be hidden. How will you use your light? #Clickforhope #shareyourstory #light #encourage #yourstorymatters #legacy #changetheworld

The story of Paul is my most favorite story in the bible. For me when I first read it, it helped me to see that all the things I had done and experienced didn't change how much God loves me!! That He could still use and call me for something great! His story can be found in Acts starting at chapter 9. Paul who was once Saul goes through an experience on Damascus road. So much so that it forever changes his life. In short, He went from persecuting believers to becoming a follower of Jesus, and as a result led a movement in sharing Jesus to the gentile community. He did so by sharing his story and also in performing many miracles. When we share our stories it points to how God has changed our lives. Take a moment to reflect on how much your life has been transformed. You are no longer your old self, you are a new creation. Thank you Jesus for transforming us! #clickforhope #biblestudy #biblescripture

The more and more we share our stories, the less power they will hold over us. Those feelings of shame, condemnation, hate, not being enough, and so many others, will hold no ground. Revelation 12:11 is a powerful verse. It says, “ They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” Who is They? We are! And who is him? The enemy. So we triumphed over the enemy by the blood of the lamb…which is Jesus when came to Earth, bore all sin, died on the cross, and raised 3 days later. We also overcome by the word of our testimony. The more and more we share the evidence of what Jesus did for us, we take the power back from the things we experienced that were "bad" and we get to see how Jesus makes it into good.
My prayer is that as you begin to share your stories that you would begin to the experience the freedom that comes in sharing them! May the truth set you free!!! #clickforhope #biblestudy #instadaily #scripture #faith #shareyourstory #yourstorymatters #changetheworld #bethechange #overcome #freedom #truth

Bible Study // Day 6

I’m just getting home from celebrating Christmas with my Dad which is miracle of it’s own. If you had asked me as a teenager, would I spend the holiday’s with my dad as an adult….I would have said,"No way," and not in the nicest way either. I was a bitter angry girl where hatred resided deep within my soul, but I’ll share more of my story another day. I will say that is one of forgiveness, restoration and allowing myself to be loved. There’s a guy named Joseph who shares a similar story. You can find his story in Genesis starting at Chapter 37 through the end of Genesis. Joseph’s story is complicated, and full of so much pain. His brothers turn against him and set out to kill him, but later change their minds to selling him as a slave. For the next decade he was a slave, and then put in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. But through all the hardships he finds favor, and at 30 years old is put in charge over Egypt since a famine was coming, and God had given him a plan for all of the people to survive it.
I’ve always wondered while reading his story what emotions did he feel towards his brothers, did he hate them, did he wonder why they didn’t love him enough, did he suffer from depression?

There’s an encounter later in Genesis where they are reunited, and the first time he sees them he weeps. He gives them food in the midst of famine, and later when their dad dies, He tells them, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives…” Genesis 50:20. Good can come out of our stories, but I believe there is a healing process we have to go through where we forgive those who've harmed us. For some it was our parents, for others it was a family member, or even ourselves. Is there someone in your life that you need to forgive? Would you begin to ask God to help you forgive this person, and to have Him show you how your story can in fact be used for His good? Sometimes our anger can hinder us from being able to see the good that can come out of our stories. I know that’s true for my story! #clickforhope #shareyourstory #yourstorymatters #forgive #forgiveness #inspire #encourage

When we share our stories it creates a sense of closeness or togetherness. For some of us we may be journeying through the darkest parts of our story now.... Maybe some suppressed memories have been surfacing and you aren't quite sure how to process them, or maybe you are in the midst of the biggest battle of your life and you just feel alone. I believe that in sharing our stories we create opportunities for others to help carry you in the moments where you may feel weak, discouraged or just too tired to care. Our battles aren't meant to be fought alone. I believe that when we choose to share our stories God will surround you with people who can help carry you in your lows and be there in your highs. There's a beautiful story of this in the bible and it's found in Exodus 17:10-13. It's a part of Moses' story (one of my favorites). The Israelites were attacked and Moses, as the leader, went to the hilltop to oversee the battle. As he looked upon the battle, he held up the staff of God. Whenever he held it up the Israelites began to win and whenever he lowered his arms they began to lose. Verse 12 says, "When Moses hands grew tired, they (Hur and Aaron) took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held up his hands- one on one side, one on the other- so that his hands remained steady till sunset." (NIV) Because of this they won the battle!!! I love this example of being surrounded by those closest to you to help you in a difficult battle. Who are the people that the Lord has placed in your life that can hold your hands when you're tired? #clickforhope #biblestudy #10daybiblestudy #scripture #shareyourstory #thepowerofyourstory #yourstorymatters #together #community #storyteller #inspire #encourage #instadaily #dailydevotional #studythebible

Luke 1: 1-45 shares a great story on the power of "me too". It's the story where Elizabeth is told that she will carry a child in her old age and where Mary will carry a child as a virgin. Both of their stories were one of impossibility, but once Mary heard that Elizabeth was in her 6th month....she hurried to see her and stayed with her for 3 months! When Elizabeth sees Mary her belly leaps...a connection is made! How awesome is that?!? There's power in being able to say "me too". It helps you to know you aren't alone and that there are others who have very similar stories. Remember that the best thing you can do today is make yourself, and your story, available for others to be able to say..."me too".

It's Christmas Eve and there's so much to be grateful for. It's a time where we come together with those we love most. I pray this is a time of genuine connection for you. Did you know that there's power in prayer? The rest of James 5:16 says," The prayers of a righteous person is powerful and effective." In sharing our stories with each other we are accountable to each other. To check in, and to pray. As we pray for each other we get to experience the joy of our answered prayers. Sometimes our prayers don't turn out how we expect but that doesn't mean that our prayers weren't answered. We can't fully understand the God's sovereignty but we get to experience His love together as we commune and pray. Who can you be praying for and with in this season? #clickforhope #dailyinspiration #scripture #biblestudy #10daybiblestudy #prayer #powerful #effective #giveback #shareyourstory #yourstorymatters

clickforhope whole and healed

I love love love the next portion of James 5:16 especially in the Message version: "...and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed." Wow...isn't that beautiful?!? When we share our stories with those around us, it positions us to experience wholeness and healing. It gives God the space to heal you from pain, hurt, bitterness, etc. It was His master plan for us to live together in wholeness but then sin entered the world and separated us from Him. And as a result we are broken. Some have experienced broken relationships, broken hearts, broken perceptions of ourselves....but there's beauty in knowing through His redemption and grace we can walk in wholeness and healing. I pray that as you take the bold step in sharing your story that you would begin to experience healing, and that a beautiful exchange would occur from brokenness to whole.
